With today's workforce becoming increasingly various and organizations doing more to maximize the great things about the dissimilarities in employees, Human Resource managers happen to be evolving from the "old school" sideline person to the front-series fighters. Organizations are relying on managers to have the persons who complete the job, and of course, make the business money. People have been central to organizations, but their strategic importance keeps growing in today's knowledge-based business community like nothing you've seen prior.

An organization's success increasingly is determined by the data, skills, and abilities of its employees. Especially because they help establish a group of core competencies which differentiate one firm from its competitors. When staff' talents are valuable, exceptional, difficult to imitate and organized, an organization can perform a sustained competitive advantage. To be able to "compete through people", an organization should be able to execute a good work of managing their human capital: the data, skills, and functions that add value to the organizations.
